diploma level 2 (part-time)
The UAL Part time Level 2 Diploma in Art and Design is a bespoke course designed to inspire and develop skills within the creative industries. The programme is specifically for the mature learner wanting an introduction to multiple traditional and contemporary art and design disciplines, including: drawing, painting and print making, contextual studies and art history, ceramics and sculpture, photography and digital art. The course aims to develop the amateur practitioner and allows the individual choice to progress towards a professional creative career.
Through one to one tutorial, demonstrations, lectures and discussion the student is encouraged to explore their individual interests and abilities in art and design. The course focuses on nurturing the learning to develop and progress towards their own personal and creative way of working. It aims to provide the skills, knowledge and confidence to specialise in an art and design subject, enabling them to create and produce a unique creative body of work within a final year project.
The course has a long-standing reputation at qualifying students to progress to: Level 3 Art Foundation studies; enabling access to Higher Education and achieving Degree status and empowering many to develop careers as professional practicing artists, designers and craft makers.
