Catherine Constable

CAPS, Year 1

Using Line, perspective and form to create abstract landscapes. Using the everyday and ordinary in an extra ordinary way. This has led me to think more about the subconscious mind and the important part it plays in creativity. It’s about trusting instinct and just doing and then manipulating afterwards. Working in layers and with the additions of textures and different processes to build abstract forms.

Although my art is mainly process driven there is a concept behind it hidden within my subconscious. By disconnecting my consciousness, I find I am more creative and get better outcomes.

My art is about getting people to stop and think. There is an element of puzzles in my work. That only the viewer can decipher for themselves and each viewer will understand my art differently. It intrigues me as to what they see. Hence the multi-layered approach.
