The Level 3 Extended Diploma in Makeup for Theatre, Film and TV is a two year course, which allows learners to develop specialist industry skills within a wide range of areas, to support progression into makeup artistry and the creative industries.
Within the first year, learners develop core skills including contemporary and historical character makeup and hairstyling, wig application and special effects makeup; working on a range of briefs, within industry settings, such as Theatre performances, makeup and hairstyling for Film and TV, live events, then working towards their Final Major Project, developing characterisation for a runway performance.
Within the second year, learners develop more complex and specialist skills such as life casting and mould making, facial prosthetics making and application, body contouring and airbrushing, life drawing skills, fantasy styling and body painting techniques.
Alongside these skills, learners develop a key understanding of the industry requirements and professional attitudes, developing their own online portfolio and working within industry settings through a range of work experience and industry placement opportunities.
Our students emerge from this course with a firm grasp of the professional, academic and practical requirements for the industry. Students’ progress to a range of pathways, such as university, creative job opportunities, apprenticeships, further training and more.
